Rest doesn't just repair muscle, it also gives the nervous system time to consolidate what it just learned in the previous session. A lesson done twice with a break between often lands more clearly than the same lesson done twice back to back.

Hi Jack, this is something I have to talk students out of constantly. They think a rest day means they're falling behind, so they play pickleball five or six days a week and wonder why their reset shot falls apart late in matches.

Motion is lotion fits perfectly, a light walk or some dynamic stretching on an off day beats sitting completely still, but it's still a different day than a hard practice or match.

Do you find people resist full rest days more than they resist the workouts themselves?
